Jack Goody

27 Temmuz 1919 tarihinde, Britanya’da, St Albans, Velwyn Garden City’de doğan sosyal antropolog Sir John (Jack) Rankine Goody, Cambridge Üniversitesi’nin önde gelen hocalarından biridir ve British Academy ve US National Academy of Sciences’ın üyesidir.
İkinci Dünya Savaşı’na katılmış, Kuzey Afrika cephesinde savaşmış, Almanlara esir düşmüş ve üç yıl esir kampında kalmıştır.
1954’ten 1984’e kadar Cambridge Üniversitesi’nde sosyal antropoloji dersleri vermiş; antropolojinin her alanında, özellikle aile, miras, çiçekler, yiyecek, okuryazarlık konularında kitaplar yazmış ve sayısız makale yayımlamıştır.
